Ritsuka has coal black hair, silky in both feeling and looks, it tends to fall into his eyes quite a bit, but doesn't affect him and is rather thin. While his bangs come a bit to his eyes, his hair frames his face and comes a bit past his chin, and in the back it goes down to the bottom base of his neck. He has a pair of cat ears on the top of his head, identical in color to his hair, and he also adorns a cat tail, reaching down close to his knees making it rather long in stature and contrast to others around him. His eyes are a purple, often lighter in color, but sometimes darker depending on his moods, it's more of a characteristic thing, and is normal by all means. Because of his age being twelve, is is still rather short, as most his age are, he is also seen often with a bandage or two on his face or body. Ritsuka's most noteable trait is his fashion sense, always wearing something that tends to 'stick out' and make him himself, and different from the normal crowd; his clothes always varying from time to time.
He is very independent and only warms up to those who have gained his trust - a hard feat for sure. He seems to like taking pictures with almost anyone, to preserve each and every moment, memory, as a picture so he would not forget. He may smile and laugh, show care and respect to those around him, but the ones who try to get close to him he pushes away, for personal reasons, those being emotional and mental.
When alone with someone, or in an uncomfortable situation, Ritsuka is very much the definition of 'emo,' and usually quiet or brooding. While his moods are usually a fake cheerful in the open, there are times when that mask will slip and be replaced by irritation or passive, but they will always quickly change; a real switch hitter.
Ritsuka's abilities lie in, while antisocial, he is very much a genius of high caliber. His grades are always top notch while he doesn't even need to study to be able to achieve them. He doesn't really have many strengths or abilities beyond his knowledge, but there is one that's more notable, the fact that when befriended and he has given his trust to a person, he will stay by their side until the end. He may be cold and withdrawn, but he knows how to keep people happy, or at least try, and he will support them through almost any decision they make.
Ritsuka doesn't technically have a weapon as he tends to rely on other people for his own safety, and he is rather physically weak, but he can boost others powers. Those that he does wish to, he can give them a boost of power, though not significant, but enough to help them. This comes from his ability in his world to boost the power of his fighter unit, and because he isn't with his original fighter unit but can boost the power of his current fighter unit, then it is believed that he can give a small amount of his own power to those he trusts.
Ritsuka's weakness involves issues with trust and fragility. He isn't strong or fast, and is rather average and physically weak. He tends to push people away when they try to get close to him personally, and he doesn't openly trust anyone- though sees no problems with acting friendly. He also has a problem with going into self doubt and self neglect, at times not taking care of himself as he should, others doubting if what he's doing is 'alright.' The last part pertains to the fact that he, while doesn't care what others think or do, does not wish to hurt anyone, foe, friend or otherwise.
In essence there are two Ritsukas to those who have known his for a long time, to those who have recently just met him though, they would believe there was only just one. As a child, 'Ritsuka' used to be a social bug, happy with many friends and able to trust anyone with ease, and along with this he got the worst of grades. Then at some point in his early life, Ritsuka's grades sky rocketed, and he withdrew from everyone, becoming somewhat cold and highly anti-social. There is no real reason for this change, and no one really knows why except perhaps for Ritsuka himself.
The change in behavior and grades is where Ritsuka himself suggests that the 'real' Ritsuka disappeared, while he became the 'replacement' or the 'fake' Ritsuka. This is also the point in time when Ritsuka's mother became violent towards Ritsuka, and judged him with every small thing he did. She would often beat him yelling thing like 'Give Ritsuka back,' among other things, and even yelling at him about what he had done wrong. Ritsuka had to watch each and every one of his actions so he would not make his mother go into another fit, though to him, he always saw her as hurting and hated himself for that.
Ritsuka's older brother, Seimei would always protect him from his mother, and together the two seemed highly happy. Seimei would protect Ritsuka from almost everything, and Ritsuka in turn would cling to his brother like a lifeline. At one point, Seimei had told Ritsuka that Ritsuka's 'name' was Loveless, while his own was 'Beloved,' even though Ritsuka hadn't understood at the time. Eventually Seimei had disappeared from both Ritsuka and his mother's life, and everyone believed that he had died, but didn't know how.
Because of Seimei's disappearance, Ritsuka's mother grew more violent in her outbursts, but Ritsuka endured them, and tried to make his mother happy as much as possible, always thinking about what the 'real' Ritsuka would do in the given situation. Ritsuka eventually met a man named Soubi who claimed to be Seimei's fighter unit, and from that point, Ritsuka's search for his brother's killer has led him to a theory of his brother still being among the living. After having made contact with '7' for the second time then fighting the Fearless unit, Ritsuka learns that his brother Seimei is most likely alive, and it is somewhat devastating to him. Soubi having a key to Ritsuka's house only further helps support the theory of Seimei's being alive.
About this time is when Ritsuka ends up coming to the world of Template.
